PharmaCal Ltd provides a wide range of services to the legal profession nationwide about the science of toxicology. From expert witness testimony to assisting in evaluating a case or working a case up for trial, PharmaCal has the medical and scientific background necessary to assist attorneys with their cases involving toxicology and adverse consequences caused by medications.

John Budny, PhD, provides competent opinions based on recognized and accepted medical knowledge to determine if prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, drugs of abuse, and bacterial infections or their treatments are the causes of adverse medical events. Dr. Budny's background includes a PhD in basic medical science and a 30-year career as a practicing toxicologist. This unique perspective combines the science of toxicology with medical knowledge to allow him to fully understand all the ramifications of an adverse medical event caused by prescribing errors, faulty medications, or failure in the health care delivery process.

Dr. Budny provides two types of services: expert consultation on a case and expert witness testimony.

On the expert consultation side, Dr. Budny will provide an honest, frank assessment of a case where a medication is suspected to have caused an adverse medical event. He helps plaintiffs' attorneys decide whether they have a case to bring based on a problem with a medication and conducts medical investigations where needed. He assists defense attorneys by assessing defense strategies in the context of available scientific evidence. He helps attorneys on both the plaintiff and defense sides work up their respective cases. He can identify any additional technical needs and he can manage the technical aspects of the case.

On the expert witness side, Dr. Budny develops and writes expert reports and he prepares declarations. He also presents testimony at depositions, arbitrations and trials.
